Top Partners from Avnet Technology Solutions' HealthPath Practice Grow Faster than the Market, Capturing Their Share of the $54 Billion Worldwide Healthcare IT Market

(NYSE: AVT), today announced that its HealthPath™ practice has reached the milestone of more than 500 partners graduating from its HealthPath™ University in the U.S. and Canada. HealthPath University leads the distribution industry in delivering an enablement and training curriculum that provides value-added reseller (VAR) partners with the key market intelligence, information, insight and specialization needed to gain and maintain a share of healthcare's $54 billion worldwide IT spend.

Avnet launched its HealthPath University in September 2006, and has since conducted more than 20 multi-day programs. More than 500 partners have attended from at least 300 companies. The programs are designed for Avnet's partners who have some experience in the field, but want to learn more about the healthcare market; and for infrastructure technology partners who choose to specialize their business in high-growth areas. During an Avnet HealthPath University, participants learn to:
- Identify challenges and opportunities in the healthcare market
- Understand key market policy and regulatory pressures, as well as patient safety and information standards
- Discover key opportunities and learn who the decision makers are among healthcare providers and payers
- Effectively navigate the complex healthcare enterprise, including hospital environments
- Determine how best to position their business and market their capabilities to win and close deals faster
- Evaluate technology solutions from leading suppliers to support the business and operational needs of healthcare IT environments
The final stage of the program, the HealthPath University Internship, is available only to HealthPath University graduates. The program brings participants into a hospital to provide a true "on-the-job" educational experience. During the week-long internship program, Avnet partners are exposed to the daily routine of healthcare vice presidents, administrators, medical directors and other hospital staff members. The curriculum is structured to enable participants to view the experience through "the eyes of a patient" and provide a better understanding of the issues of today's healthcare providers. The intent of this program is to develop Avnet's partners into trusted advisors who are committed to the healthcare industry. They return to their respective business locations well-prepared to develop mutually beneficial relationships with their healthcare clients.
