Avnet Electronics Marketing Asia & Seoul Semiconductor organize seminar to offer LED solutions
Hong Kong -- Interest in LED lighting is heating up in China, where potential energy savings amounting to twice the power output of the Three Gorges dam project are predicted to drive sales to between three and five times current levels over the next four years.
China is already the world's biggest producer of lighting products. However, its LED manufacturers face significant design and production challenges in meeting local demand as well as catering to international market requirements.
"LED Lighting is still an emerging product in China. However, the combination of a steep learning curve and the rapid pace of technological developments make entering the market doubly challenging." said Francis Lam, Director of Asia Marketing for Avnet Electronics Marketing Asia.
In conjunction with the South Korea's Seoul Semiconductor, Avnet Electronics Marketing is organizing a series of seminars in November and December to help Chinese firms participate successfully in the potentially huge LED market.
"These seminars are designed to offer insight into the latest LED technologies. They also showcase ways to speed up product development cycles and reduce time-to-market, such as by taking advantage of Avnet Electronics Marketing China's value added services which include electronic solutions, optical solutions and thermal management solutions." said Lam.
The LED market is as diverse as it is huge. It includes architecture, automotive, backlight solutions for phones, notebook PCs and LCD TVs and portable consumer products such as flashlights and headlamps. Seoul Semiconductor's solutions can also be applied to other applications including entertainment/stage lighting, digital cameras, retail displays, security and tunnel lighting, traffic lights.
Seoul Semiconductor offerings featured in the seminar will include its Acriche EcoLight, in Pure White and Warm White configurations. This unique product is the world's first semiconductor light source capable of operating directly from AC power without a converter. The event will also focus on some brand new items such as the Z1 LED Series super bright solutions that are ideal for general lighting and channel lighting.
The Seoul Semiconductor and Avnet Electronics Marketing China LED Lighting Seminar will take place in Zhongshan. The details are as follows:

"One of the best ways to drive market share growth, locally and internationally is to improve product performance. In the case of LED lighting products, there are two main ways to do this - either by improving the LED itself, or by optimizing the design of the lighting fixture by enhancing electronics driver/control efficiency, optical efficiency or the effectiveness of thermal management." said Kevin Kim, Country Manager, China for Seoul Semiconductors.
His views are echoed by Avnet Electronics Marketing Asia. "Clearly, these improvements are easier said than done. That's' where Avnet Electronics Marketing China and Seoul Semiconductors Inc come in, offering expertise, proven reference designs and custom design services coupled with the latest LED solutions. These seminars showcase how manufacturers can stake their claim in this booming sector." added Lam.
